Dear Hawaii Brides,

The Honeymoon Postcard Keepsake!  I love this creative and great idea that is quick and easy to do on your honeymoon. You’re probably going to be very busy but will want to remember every day of this special time. All you need to do is simply send yourself a postcard each day from your destination and write on it the memorable events of the day. Then, when you return home, bind them all together including photos and anything else you’ve saved from the trip, and you’ve got yourself a homemade, personalized scrapbook of your honeymoon! What a great keepsake!

Happy DIY Monday’s Everyone! 🙂

5 Awesome Alternatives to the Traditional Wedding Cake for Hawaii Brides

Happy Friday to all of my favorite brides and grooms!  Today we’re going to explore a few wedding cake alternatives.  No one’s going to argue that you shouldn’t have the traditional wedding cake, but if you want to try something different there are plenty of other dessert options to choose from!  From cupcake towers to full candy bars, today we’ve put together a list of 5 great alternatives to the traditional tiered cake! If you aren’t set on having the the traditional cake, these options can be super fun, and save you money.

Best Day Ever’s Top 5 Alternatives to the Traditional Wedding Cake:

1. Cupcake Cake

Cupcakes have always been a popular dessert and with cupcake shops becoming more prevalent, why wouldn’t cupcakes be a smash at a wedding reception? Wedding guests of all ages are sure to devour everything from vanilla to more creative flavors and fillings. One of the best things about having a cupcake cake is that you can still have a design for it! They can be served in tower form or as pull-apart cakes.

2. Candy Bar

Envision all of your favorite sugary treats displayed colorfully on a beautiful table. What more could you ask for? The beauty of the candy bar is that the options are virtually limitless. You can have treats that you know everyone will enjoy as well as putting out some new treats that maybe people haven’t heard of. Make it extra special by putting cards that say which one is your favorite and which one is your fiancé’s favorite.

3. Dessert Bar

Ever consider a mix of fancy desserts and cakes instead of a single wedding cake? You could go to all of your favorite bakeries and have a wide range of desserts offering everything from doughnuts to mini tarts!  The options are endless and what fun for all your guests!

4. Ice Cream

With so many weddings happening during the summer months, guests might need something a little more refreshing to keep them cool while dancing the night away on the dance floor! Consider hiring an ice cream bartender to whip up spectacular creations and have a Sunday bar, where guests can design their Sunday to their liking! Or you could bring in an ice cream truck like our one of our favorite brides Layna did at her Rustic Hawaii Wedding (pictured above).

5. Cookie Buffet

The only problem with having a cookie buffet is narrowing down the options for your guests to choose from. Everyone loves cookies, so it’s hard to go wrong here. You can choose cookies that are your favorites as well as the people in your bridal party to make it a little more special. If you really want to earn brownie points with your guests, you can provide vanilla ice cream for classic ice cream sandwiches. Cookie buffets are fun and super easy!  Also a great way to save a little money!

There are so many different options when it comes to the types of desserts to have at your wedding. No matter what you decide to choose, whether it is the traditional wedding cake or trying something new, you can’t go wrong! Everyone loves dessert!

What are you doing at your wedding? A traditional cake or something different? Do share!  We’d love to hear all about it!

Yay for Friday! 🙂 Hope everyone has a wonderful day and fabulous weekend! Thanks to Marielle for helping me with this fabulous post!

Top Oahu Wedding Bouquet Trends

There’s a lot to think about when it comes to choosing your bouquet for your wedding. At Best Day Ever Hawaii we thought we would share some of the top bouquet trends hitting our island aisles! Here’s a couple of trends we’re sure you’ll love!

Top Oahu Wedding Bouquet Trends

1. Flower Choice

When you first start thinking about what type of flowers you want, try to think of flowers that have special significance to you and your man.  You could think about using one of your birth month flowers or some of the type of flowers from the first bouquet your fiancé gave to you.

2. Mix it Up

Everything in your bouquet doesn’t have to match perfectly, try to mix it up a bit by using a combination of flowers and colors. This will really help to make your bouquet pop when walking down the aisle. If you do want some uniformity, you can pick a color theme or a seasonal mix of flowers.

frankamodo3. Get Sentimental

As time goes on, it’s becoming more and more popular to incorporate something that has meaning to you into your wedding. There are many different ways to do this just with your bouquet! Try using a piece of your dress or veil to wrap the flowers, or something from a loved one.

4. Go Green

Adding splashes of green to your bouquet can really make it come alive. Don’t be afraid to add color and volume by integrating greenery. The contrast will brighten up your bouquet and add depth to the overall look.

shannonsasaki5. Ditch the Handle

Be unique! Change up how you hold your flowers. Instead of carrying them tied together with something standard, try something more creative and personal. Attach your flowers to a book, a fan, any object that has special meaning to you and your groom.

Ombre Weddings, a Popular Wedding Theme for Modern Hawaii Brides

ombre, ombre weddings, popular wedding theme, modern hawaii brides

Ombre weddings are becoming more common because of the emerging popularity of the ombre colors in the fashion world this past year.  This year, couples are moving away from choosing the typical two primary color theme to choosing one hue and using several different shades.

Ombre is the French term for shaded or graduated in tone, and is a beautiful effect of color shading from light to dark. I love ombre colors because it’s a new and sophisticated way to incorporate many shades of one color into a wedding. I think Hawaii brides will love it for their wedding cakes, florals, gowns, and bridesmaids dresses to create more of a modern twist.

What do you guys think about this new trend?  Any brides or grooms planning an ombre wedding?  Do share!  We’d love to hear all about it!
