Tate & Lily’s Best Day Ever, Waialae Country Club Wedding

Tate & Lily tied the knot at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu on June 27th, 2014.  It was a beautiful ceremony, followed by a fun and unique reception filled with great food, lots of drinks, live music and even a special bridal hula dance for the groom.  This couple was one of the sweetest we have ever met and it was truly an honor to help them plan their special day.

Congrats to Tate & Lily!  Thank you for trusting us with your special day!  Wishing you a lifetime of LOVE, kisses and good wishes!

Cheers to your “Best Day Ever!”

Sincerely, Nicole + Erika 🙂

Chad & Jee Hae’s Best Day Ever! Central Union Church and The Halekulani Hotel

Chad and Jee Hae tied the knot this past weekend at Central Union Church.  As they said “I do” they also united two wonderful families, together forever, as one!  It was quite possibly the most elegant and breathtaking ceremonies ever.  Central Union Church, in Honolulu, is amazing!  And incase you couldn’t tell by the video and photos, this couple is pretty darn perfect as well!

The festivities continued at the Hau Terrace in the Halekulani Hotel where the wedding was celebrated with all of their closest friends and family members.  The first dance and father daughter dances were both, tear jerkers, and one that both Erika and I will never forget.  Unfortunately I was in charge of the music so I wasn’t able to catch the first dance on film (I take my ipod duties very seriously!) …  but I did catch the father daughter dance, and if you thought that was good, just imagine that the first dance was 10x more intense, and beautiful.  The entire crowd was gathered around them watching as the bride and groom were completely in the moment, gazing into each others eyes the entire time as the groom sang to his bride.  OMG, the best, first dance, ever!

Thank you to Chad and Jee Hae for trusting us with your special day and CONGRATULATIONS on your “Best Day Ever!”.  Wishing you both a lifetime of many more dances, lots of kisses and blessings beyond your wildest dreams!  We’re so happy for you both 🙂

Sincerely, Nicole + Erika

Cory & Lorraine, A One of a Kind Fairytale Dillingham Ranch Hawaii Wedding

Cory & Lorraine tied the knot on May 24th 2014 at Dillingham Ranch.  A beautiful bride, dashing groom, fabulous wedding party, amazing flowers, and a horse and carriage… it was truly an event and day to remember.

With all the beauty, love and fun that this day brought it was also combined with a few hurdles beginning with the loss of electricity on the entire ranch and ending in what felt like a Hawaiian Monsoon that left the entire dance floor underwater.

We did our best with every situation, bringing in generators from across the island to fix the electricity problem, moving furniture and rugs so that guests didn’t accidentally truck in the mud and ruin the venue (costing extra unnecessary fees), pulling out our secret stash of beautiful clear umbrellas, but in the end it was the couples love and carefree attitude and their decision to “just have fun” that made it their “Best Day Ever”.

By the end of the night, make-up was off, hair was a mess, everyone was soaked, most guests were barefoot, there were puddles ankle deep and guests were out of the tent, dancing in the storm.

The joy and laughter that carried on despite the weather and unforeseen circumstances can be attributed solely to this amazing bride and groom and to the love everyone had for them.  No one could stop this amazing couple from having the time of their life and I could not imagine a more magical ~ The “Best Day Ever!

Congratulations Cory & Frenchie, you two are such a cool couple!  Thank you for being such troopers and having the time of your life on your special day.  We wish you a lifetime of love, laughter & many blessings!

David Huxley and Susan Vance’s Best Day Ever!

It’s not often that we meet a couple as unique an fun as Susan and David!  I felt instantly connected to them from our first phone consult over a year ago when we began planning their Best Day Ever (or at least it feels that long!).  They were both from Philadelphia (my college town!) and were planning a secret wedding get-away for just the two of them.  I loved that they were going to do the whole sha-bang in a completely romantic and unique way, inviting and telling no friends and family, yet finding a way to capture it all on video and by photo to show their family later on.

Over the next few months I worked with David & Susan to help them book the perfect vendors, secure flowers, find a breath-taking ceremony venue and pull together all of their details for their special day.  The groom decided that he was going to wear a kilt and the bride a deep red gorgeous wedding gown, how cool is that! Slowly but surely all the months of planning fell into place and before we knew it their big day was here.

On the morning of their Big Day, I got to the florist early to pick up the flowers and headed down to 3660 on the Rise where we had a special private room and balcony reserved for David and Susan.  The morning was spent turning a pretty basic room into a romantic and intimate dinner setting with flowers everywhere, candles and twinkly lights.  After that I headed over to the hotel to check in on the bride and groom and vendors.
As Janice and Frank (the videographer and photographer) captured the getting ready shots, rings, jewelry, dress, invitations (yes, they even had invitations & table numbers made for their special day! awesome right!) and other little details while I took care of a few last minute calls and tasks.  Meanwhile Leslie Fair did an amazing job turing Susan into one of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen!  I loved how the bride and groom were so playful and fun the entire time, the groom dancing around the room loving every minute of this special day!
Before we knew it, the time was here and we headed out to the ceremony spot for the Big Event. Susan and David headed down to the lobby shortly after to take a limo.
A gorgeous day, breathtaking cliffs on a turquoise clear ocean, this day was just perfect!  As Kahu Bruce led a Hawaiian chant and a very intimate ceremony, Frank, Janice and I saw a dolphin, whale and sea turtle pop up right behind them in the middle of the ceremony.  Talk about a special and very rare moment!  I think they must have came especially for Susan & David as a special Hawaiian Blessing!
The evening commenced at 3660 on the Rise where the bride and groom were wow’d with a one of a kind cake made to look like a stack of old books with their wedding date engraved into the sides.  This cake was so amazing the videographers didn’t believe it was real!  We Heart Cake did an AMAZING job! Seriously, this was the coolest cake I’ve ever seen!
The couple ate cake and shared it with us vendors, their special guests, and danced around the room in a Waltz (I think it was a Waltz?) laughing and kissing and having a grand time, enjoying every second of their first dance.  We all feel in love with David and Susan and it was truly an honor to be a part of such a lovely couples “Best Day Ever!”
We wish you both the best of luck and a life filled with laughter, happiness, joy and tons of wonderfully amazing blessings!  Thank you for trusting us with your special day!

Best Day Ever Hawaii

Mary&Tony 2.18.12 ♥ Waikane, Hawaii

We had the privilege of working with a lovely couple ~ Mary Despe & Tony Perrault this past February.  Feeling a little overwhelmed in the planning process, Mary started searching for a wedding planner & ended up finding us, Best Day Ever Hawaii on Craigslist. Mary and Tony had been dating for years and finally decided it was time to tie the knot.  They envisioned a beautiful outdoor wedding.  A close friend was lending them her home to use for the wedding venue, another friend had agreed to bake them a fabulous cake, and another friend was already on top of designing the invitations… but, thats about as far as they got.  They were still struggling with the guest list, weren’t sure where to start with the catering and rentals and had no idea how to handle the timeline.  Luckily, that’s what exactly what a Hawaii Wedding Planner is for, and a good wedding planner handles all of those things and so much more. We helped Mary and Tony organize their guest list and RSVP’s into an organized spreadsheet, we got down to the basics and completely took over their budget so we could save them $$ right away and stay on course with a set budget, we helped them find the best caterer, rental company, valet company, deejay and florist for their budget and personal style, we assisted with their wedding rehearsal, helped create their timelines and we also provided them with a full wedding design package.  Most importantly though – we made two new wonderful friends. The wedding was held at a friends estate out on the east side of Oahu right in front of Chinamans Hat.  Erika and I arrived at the site at 2am to start on the floral arrangements.  Although we don’t usually do florals, we became very close with Mary and Tony and decided for this one wedding we’d make an exception and help them out by doing the florals to save them a little money.  I think they turned out beautifully and I must say I was very impressed with the the lovely cymbidium, green african rose and hydrangia bouquet I made too, but oh boy was it a ton of work!  We give all of you florists so much credit!  Those $60-$200 centerpieces are worth every penny. The rest of the vendors started trickling in around 11am and continued coming until the ceremony started at around four.  There were a few little hiccups – the weather being a big one…  just as we finally finished setting up the ceremony (chairs, isle, chair sashes) and all 25 of the guest tables (floral centerpieces, scattered shells around the sides, hula doll favors with personalized tags, table cloths, dishes, table runners, etc.) it started to pour buckets. We quickly gathered a team to help move all 25 of the tables a few feet over to keep everything dry. The strong winds that day were also a bit of a problem so straightening out the centerpieces and linens was a constant battle as was trying to keep the tiki torches lit with the winds… but everything did get set up (almost as perfectly as planned) and then, as if by magic, the sky suddenly cleared – just in time for the ceremony to begin. This ceremony, like the couple, was completely unique – they had a an entourage of flower girls and boys who preceded them. One child held each of their cute little doggies~ Pogi and Panda and then another two chased their pet chicken down the isle, unfortunately Pinky (the chicken), had other plans – and decided not to go down the isle but rather to run off to the side.  I tried to re-direct Pinky, but had no success.  This was quickly forgotten when the beautiful bride began her stroll down the long isle to her husband to be, escorted by both of her parents. The ceremony was followed by an amazing reception that included a really funny surprise slideshow which included photos of the groom in a speedo done by the groomsmen (I helped them coordinate setting up the secret slideshow ahead of time), a one of a kind emcee and host – Chief Sielu Avea, who’s understated humor had the entire crowd laughing throughout the night, and a  complete tahitian dance show and fire dance performance.  All of this was made complete with amazing food (Beaches & Backyard Catering) a delicious homemade wedding cake created by friend Jane Stites and an awesome DJ – Phillip Duong – who managed to get most of the guests up and dancing on the dance floor for the remainder of the night. Through the few months of planning, we got to know Mary & Tony very well… we saw them fight, laugh and cry together, we saw them exchange what could have been the most touching vows we have ever heard, we got to see first hand what it is like to be a florist, we got to chase their pet chicken down the isle (that was a first), we saw Tony almost burn himself doing a very gutsy and impressive fire dance, but the best part ~ we got to witness a wonderfully beautiful ♥love♥ story.  And through it all, we grew to love them both dearly!  We are so excited to share with you their wedding photos courtesy of Shannon Sasaki of Shannon Sasaki Photography.

Also – as an added bonus, Mary and Tony decided to donate some of their florals to our “Share the Aloha” charity.  On the day after their wedding, Erika and I spent the entire morning re-vamping the wind blown arrangements and added in cute little cards from Best Day Ever & newlyweds Mary & Tony.  We then hand-delivered over 30 floral arrangements to four separate nursing homes and the childrens cancer floor at Kapiolani Medical Center.  The florals that had just created a beautiful wedding the day before were now bringing elderly Manoa resident “Jane” to tears, and filling “Yukie” with the biggest smiles we’ve ever seen.  A big Thank You to Mary and Tony for the generous donations, you really made such a difference in so many lives!  Here are some photos: mary and tonymary and tony, waikane wedding, hawaii wedding, oahu wedding, mary and tony, best day ever hawaii, outdoor wedding

Nicole & Kenji 11.11.11

On November 11th, 2011, Nicole & Kenji tied the knot in a simple beach house surrounded by their closest family and friends on the east side of Oahu. The day was highly emotional and filled to the brim with love, tears, laughter and joy. The day started off at Nicole’s house in Manoa where all of her girlfriends gathered for pupus and wine and got ready together. The girls took tons of photos and then headed into the limo for the long drive over to the other side of the island. It was almost a fiasco when they realized before even getting onto the Pali that there was no more champagne, but luckily shortly after, one of the girls discovered a secret compartment in the 1980’s limo that held the champagne stash. The entire limo gasped and started cheering.

Upon arrival, Erika, the wedding planner, instructed the girls on where to go and lead Nicole to her room where she was to wait for the ceremony to start. When it was time they headed towards the ceremony area where the flower girls and ring bearers started the long walk down to the ceremony area. Nic and her dad followed shortly after.

This was much more than the couples wedding day. 11.11.11 was something that the couple saw as their lucky number. They kissed every time they caught 11:11 on the clock and celebrated every 11th day of each month as they officially got together on Nov. 11th three years prior. Also, today – Nov. 11, 2011 – was Kenji, the grooms 31st birthday!

Joined by 120 of their closest friends and family, it was surely an event to remember. Filled with dancing, a full old fashioned candy bar, tears and heart-felt toasts, crazy bouquet tosses, a surprise bridal hula for her groom, and even a flash mob. There is no question 11.11.11 was Nicole & Kenji’s best day ever!

Best Day Ever helped the bride create over 100 face masks of the groom which were hidden under all the guest tables. A surprise birthday cake for the groom came out right after the couple cut their wedding cake and all the guests sang “Happy Birthday” with their “Kenji faces” on. The look on his face.. was priceless.

The bride choreographed a 7 minute flash mob dance that started after the father daughter dance. She sent out a youtube video complete with instructions for all the guests to learn the special dance unsure of who would really participate. To her surprise, nearly all the guests were up on the dance floor getting down with all the choreographed moves. It was really amazing to watch. The groom was the only one who was out of the loop. Needless to say – he had a huge smile on his face the whole time – in awe of what was happening around him.

It was a pleasure to work with the very lovely Tasha and Wayne who celebrated with family and friends on Oahu at the beautiful Outrigger Canoe Club on Dec. 30, 2011. The ceremony took place on the beach, ocean front, directly in front of the more popular surf spot – “Tongs”.. right at sunset. The couple said their own vows which were completely heartfelt and left us nearly (we’ll erika for sure) in tears:) To make things even more cute, guests were greeted with ceremony bubbles and sunglasses for the event. The reception took place 20 or so minutes later at the Outrigger dining area a few feet away. Guests enjoyed amazing candy lollipops made right in front of their eyes complete w/balloon animals by Candy Art Hawaii and had fun with the photo-booth. We’re so excited to see photos and will share them with you in the next few weeks. We were so touched to be a part of such an amazing love story. Congrats you two!! It was such a pleasure:)tasha + wayne, favorite december wedding, favorite december hawaii wedding, hawaii wedding

Dway & Travis – A Hawaii Love Story

I have had the privilege of knowing Dwaynette & Travis for quite some time. They are an charming couple who are clearly each others soul mates, perfect for each other in every way. It is a rare thing really, to find a couple who can crack each other up the way Dway and Travis can, it’s like just a glance sometimes and they’re on the ground rolling in laughter – the both of them.  They have been through a lot together – and I have seen Travis hold back Dway’s hair after a night of partying too hard and I have seen Dway take care of Travis in more ways than one. It is undeniable however, that together there is a wonderful and amazing love story, one that has taken years to blossom, and that is still in fact, still growing – beautifully and in gods perfectionI’m super excited to share with you a few pics from their engagement shot taken by a wonderful and talented Hawaii Photographer – Bianca Photography. If you don’t have a wedding photographer yet, Bianca’s work is pretty amazing. You can check out more of Bianca & her team’s work at her website – http://www.biancaphotography.com/

A Kalalau Engagement

Is it weird that I’m posting pictures of myself on our blog?  I don’t care, I love “L O V E” love them.. Hope you will enjoy too.  Here’s Kenji & my engagement shoot.  To make the story even cuter – we got engaged in this very spot just a few months prior to the shoot.  It’s our absolute favorite place. It’s a 12 mile hike in, and out.. so hiking in make-up and getting pretty for the shoot wasn’t easy, but Shinji did an amazing job! More on our photographer (my fiances brother) to come….
